Students will learn how using large computers to solve various problems of science and technology,. HPC is used from modeling climate and weather prediction to designing advanced system software and tools for large-scale computation.
HPC is well connected with scientific computing and numerical analysis. Our research today includes work on the development fast numerical algorithms, forward and inverse modeling, ill-posed problems, the use of these technologies in diverse applications such as geospatial imaging, fluid dynamics and underwater acoustics.
Our faculty’s research was supported by Department of Defense, Department of Energy, NASA, and the National Science Foundation. Additional support is provided by industrial partners including Exxon, Fujitsu, IBM, Microsoft, Samsung, and Sun Microsystems.
